The first four pages of this website I will devote to the Bricycle project, this page will contain some personal information about me and my thoughts on various topics.
* I was fortunate to have been conceived by two talented and creative people, and while our interests were not that similar, they did foster my love of music, art, movies, and literature.
* I grew up in the early 50's in what used to be known as a neighborhood in Cleveland, Ohio, the seventh largest city in the United States.
* My father’s business also happened to be our home. He was a funeral director, and growing up there largely formed my view of the world and of life.
* My family and friends would tell you that I was born cynical--don’t believe them.
* Had I been born 30 years later, I’d have been diagnosed with LD or ADHD, and my family would have helped to support the pharmaceutical industry.
* I have been building things for as long as I can remember.
* My wife has been very patient and supportive of my project, and my closest friends still can't figure out what she saw in me.
* I started sculling when I was 38, the best thing I ever did for myself. I have raced a few times--even won a few medals. Anyone living near a rowing center should try it.
* I smoke Camels non-filtered cigarettes (not a good thing).
* I like good scotch and Patrón Anejo.
* I love intelligent, beautiful women and try to surround myself with as many as I can.
* I like trees, everyone should plant one; they’ll keep us above the ground longer.
* I love trains, boats, planes and automobiles.
* I have four wonderful children.

Oil pricing is market driven? (posted August 11, 2008)
A couple of months ago a few 50 caliber rounds were fired in the Straits of Hormuz, and gasoline prices jumped 10 cents or more a gallon. For the past fews days, two oil-producing countries have been fighting about something, and the price of oil is falling. Go figure.
Politics
Wouldn't it be great if political campaigns lasted only one month? How much do these people really have to say that means anything anyway? Think how many trees we'd save--fewer sticks, posters and fliers. All the oil, gasoline, and jet fuel we'd save. The Madison Avenue and Wall Street folks wouldn't like it though; it would cause them great hardship and they'd have to spend more time trying to sell us all those things we don't really need. I like the idea.

Personal ramblings
It's kind of funny how you pick up certain traits from your parents. My father was always up early in the morning. I didn't know why, but he was up around 4:00 am every day, and he was always writing something at our kitchen table. Turns out he wrote letters. He was a very personable man, unlike me, who had made many friends all over the world, and everyday he would write to someone. My father also liked to drink, and I discovered one morning that his coffee cup didn't contain coffee--it was scotch. So here I am at 4:00 am, writing, with three fingers of rum in my coffee cup--the scotch is all gone.
